Independent thinking. Commercial insight. Better business decisions.

I'm Julie Rodilosso. I've built, run and sold businesses, and now I help owners and boards look at their business as a whole, not one department at a time.

Why have me involved

A good product and strong sales are only part of the picture.

Running a successful business takes sound financial management, a clear understanding of customers, products and services that make commercial sense, operations that work, and the ability to spot and respond when the market changes.

Having spent many years as a business director, I bring practical experience, independent thinking and a commercial focus to help businesses look at how they're doing, find the opportunities, manage the risks and make better decisions.

My approach is to look at the business as a whole, not simply one department or function.

Where I can add value

Seven questions every business should be asking

Business problems rarely sit in one place. I look across all seven, because the answer to one is often hiding in another.

Strategy and direction

Is the business heading in the right direction?

I bring an independent view, challenge assumptions and help leadership teams weigh up opportunities, risks and where to go next.

Products and services

Does your offering meet a genuine market need, and does it deliver recurring revenue?

I look at how your offering stands against the competition, how it could be better and whether it can support lasting profit.

Customers

Are you maximising the lifetime value of your existing customers?

Your existing customers are among your most valuable assets. I look for chances to strengthen the relationship, offer more and keep them for longer.

Market position

Is your value proposition clear, differentiated and compelling?

A good product doesn't automatically bring in customers. I challenge how you position, price, market and talk about what you sell.

Money and profit

Are you generating profit and cash, or simply revenue?

Revenue matters, but profit and cash flow are fundamental. I challenge budgets and forecasts and look hard at costs and margins.

Operations

Can you deliver what you promise, every time, at a profit?

I look at whether your processes, people and systems are helping the business or adding cost and getting in the way of growth.

Leadership and governance

Are decisions well informed, and does someone own the outcome?

I bring an independent voice, constructive challenge and real director level experience to conversations about performance, strategy and risk.

I've worked with Julie in three different roles and relationships now. As a colleague, a supplier and an adviser. She is one of the most determined, dedicated and high-energy leaders in the insurance world. One of her greatest attributes is to sense market gaps and fill them with high-quality products and services. Others have said as recommendation that she is a 'force of nature' and I agree wholeheartedly. However, it is not just about force but also understanding the way markets, consumers and opportunities develop as the world changes. I've seen her develop products and seal business pipelines that others could not. Knowledge, energy, drive and vision.

My approach

Understand the business
Challenge assumptions
Identify opportunities
Strengthen performance

Business problems rarely exist on their own.

Weak sales may come from how the product is positioned. Falling profit may come from the wrong pricing or work that isn't running well. Losing customers may point to problems with service, communication or a product that no longer fits.

I look for the cause, not just the symptom. I ask the questions that matter, challenge established thinking, and help leadership teams think through the wider commercial and financial effects of their decisions.

About me

Julie Rodilosso

Business director, strategic adviser and Non-Executive Director

I am an experienced business leader and entrepreneur, having held CEO and director positions across multiple companies over many years. One of my key achievements was growing a business to become the UK's largest provider in its sector, culminating in a successful sale for just under £12 million. My career also includes working with major organisations such as GEC Plessey and Misys PLC (now part of Finastra), giving me extensive experience across both entrepreneurial businesses and large corporate environments.
